The primary objective of this workshop is to create a forum for industry and academia to meet, across the south-north axis, to discuss issues of relevance to breeding and genetics in aquaculture. To achieve this, we have identified selected experts who will serve as key-note speakers and generate good discussions among the audience. We have invited speakers from a broad spectrum of backgrounds and expertise within genetics and breeding, from both academia and the industry.

We have a diverse two days planned, including sessions like

  • European perspectives on genetics and breeding (Ross Houston | The Roslin Institute)
  • Perspectives from breeding companies (Nina Santi | Aquagen and Rudi Ripman |SalmoBreed)
  • Transferring technology to new areas and species (Morten Rye | Akvaforsk Genetics, Costas Tsigenopoulos | HCMR, Alexia Gallucci | AquaBioTech, Chris Bridges | TUNATECH)
  • Crispr and gene editing (Anna Wargelius |IMR)
  • Regulating the future – What can we expect the law to say about Crispr and similar technologies? (Sigrid Bratlie | Norwegian Biotechnology Council)
  • Matchmaking (NCE Seafood Innovation Cluster)
